I love this novel. The humor is acute, the story is moving and the cartoons are incredible funny. The book tells us that everyone is his own futures Blacksmith, like the saying says.
The story of this book is told in the view of a 14 year old guy named Arnold junior Spirit. Arnold is tall, skinny, funny, intelligent and draws comics, very funny comics. So Arnold lives in the Spokane Indian reservation, where all people are poor, the most adults are alcoholics and the school books are older than 30 years old. All kids in the reservation annoy Arnold expect one, his best friend Rowdy. He is the opposite of Arnold even strong, not really intelligent and he doesnt laughs, just Arnold can make him laughing.
As Arnold detects that his school book is over 30 years old, he sees that he have no future prospects in the reservation. Because of that he chances the school and goes to the neighbour farm town school, where Arnold is the only Indian. Rowdy hates Arnold since he left the reservation school. At the new school all boys want to punch Arnold but he defends himself against this boys. Despite the strokes of fate, which hit him, he goes his way and discovers his talent for basketball and girls.
Arnold takes his life with his acute humour and his wonderful cartoons make this book to a must read book. The writing style of Sherman Alexie isnt to difficult to understand and thru the slang words, witch the author used, effects that the story is authentic.
I vote this book with 5 stars and advise it to all advanced English learners. This book is a must read book!!
