Once again the reader is placed in the middle of an investigation. Based in and around Venice, with Brunetti seeking the truth. What first seems like unsolvable request changes to a terrible case when a student, who required his help, is murdered. Donna Leon narrated this story brilliantly, I got extremely fond of the characters, you feel linked to them right from the start. In this story, I had the feeling that the principal character, performs an exceptionally deep role. The author displays a deeper insight into the investigative work, which leads to a plausible conclusion you would never have thought of. A story in which it gets obvious how far human beings would go for money, no matter if they have to betray people they appreciate. In my opinion the author’s best work so far, I am delighted that there are more to come. Recommended to everyone interested in a suspenseful story.
