Circe

Circe is a good book, but not quite my taste. Unfortunately, I'm not really a big fan of Greek mythology, gods and stuff like that. For me, the book, with its complicated words and sentence structures, wasn't easy to read. It would probably have been better if I were more interested in the Greek mythology. But that's just my own preference. However, I didn't find the book entirely bad either. Although the plot was very drawn-out, I could empathize well with the main character. I could understand her feelings and thoughts very well. At some points, I really thought to myself, "She doesn't deserve this!" The further I read, the more characters turned against her, and in the end, there were only a handful of people she could truly count on and who meant something to her. I think the book actually tells a beautiful story of a woman who was always excluded and scorned, but in the end, she found herself and the people who really love her. ...weiterlesen

The book "Circe" tells a great journey through Greek mythology, focusing on the main character Circe. The first few chapters aren't really exciting but as the story goes on there is a lot happening and Circe evolves from a vulnerable nymph to a powerful and independent witch. Sometimes it's really hard to follow the happenings with all the names but in general I like the story. The book also covers many important topics like self-discovery and feminism. ...weiterlesen
