A truly impressive and mesmerising story that is told out of the perspective of multiple selves. Emezi masters to capture the different personalities and give each an individual voice and nuance. I found the story deeply moving and couldn't stop reading. I loved the spirituality of the story and was completely absorbed by it.

Fascinating and stirring

Freshwater did not let me go. The book shows us African mythology and a gripping incident. The story is written realistically and in detail and is told from different perspectives. Mostly from the point of view of "We" or Asughara, sometimes Ada gets a word in. Ada was requested by their parents and sent to them. However, not alone. Ada is more than it seems. And the "others", if we want to call them that, are not satisfied with this circumstance that they are there too. I think the book is in a way a spiritual, philosophical one. Reading it is an experience that is difficult to describe. Freshwater is a fascinating and original story that should not be missed.
