As a present perfect

Bewertet: Buch (Taschenbuch)

I got this book as a present and i really liked it, at the beginning i thought it was kinda depressing but it turned out as a live safer. going trough hard times were u think about suicide it was nice to read something that will finish with u thinking „oh maybe i have more then i usually think i have“. It had a surprising twist at the end and makes it totally worth reading a second or third time.

What a page turner

The whole concept of "what if" is one that fascinates me and reminds me very much of the the two books by Kate Atkinson Life after Life and A God in Ruins. And in some ways also of The Time Traveller's Wife by Audrey Niffenegger which is one of those books which had such a big impact on me. Who doesn't look back at a pivotal moment in their life and ask themselves "what if I had taken the other road in the fork"? Sometimes out of sheer curiosity, sometimes because we imagine that the other choice would have been much better / different. We see what we want to see and we remember what we want to remember and this book shows how multifaceted life is, not only for us, but all the people involved in our life and how these myriad of facets can look different when seeing the full picture as The Midnight Library does. I felt very uplifted at the end as I took the lesson away with me, that I am exactly where I am meant to be in life and confirmed, that if I don't like it, chances to change it are always available however grim life may be looking at any given time. I loved the concept and read it in one sitting!
