Soon to Be a Major Motion Picture!

USA Today Bestseller

Debut author Sally Thorne bursts on the scene with a hilarious and sexy workplace comedy all about that thin, fine line between hate and love.

Nemesis (n.) 1) An opponent or rival whom a person cannot best or overcome.

2) A person's undoing

3) Joshua Templeman

Lucy Hutton and Joshua Templeman hate each other. Not dislike. Not begrudgingly tolerate. Hate. And they have no problem displaying their feelings through a series of ritualistic passive aggressive maneuvers as they sit across from each other, executive assistants to co-CEOs of a publishing company. Lucy can't understand Joshua's joyless, uptight, meticulous approach to his job. Joshua is clearly baffled by Lucy's overly bright clothes, quirkiness, and Pollyanna attitude.

Now up for the same promotion, their battle of wills has come to a head and Lucy refuses to back down when their latest game could cost her her dream job...But the tension between Lucy and Joshua has also reached its boiling point, and Lucy is discovering that maybe she doesn't hate Joshua. And maybe, he doesn't hate her either. Or maybe this is just another game.

Sally Thorne lives in Canberra, Australia and spends her days writing funding submissions and drafting contracts (yawn!) so it's not surprising that after hours she climbs into colorful fictional worlds of her own creation. Sally believes that romance readers are always searching for intensity in their next favorite book-and it isn't always so easy to find. The Hating Game is her first novel.

Gutes Buch für nebenbei

Wirklich süße Geschichte, etwas vorhersehbar, aber ich erwarte kein literarisches Meisterwerk von dieser Art Büchern. Perfekt für Strand oder Badewanne.

Let's Play a Game

Hating someone feels disturbingly similar to being in love with them. I've had a lot of time to compare love and hate, and these are my observations." Ever since their publishing houses merged, Lucinda and Joshua have been forced to work together. Or at least, next to each other. Even though, they can't stand one another, they love playing games. There's the Staring Game, the Mirror Game, the HR Game, the Spying Game and many more. But after playing one particular game Lucinda has to reevaluate her feelings. Is it possible, she might not hate Joshua quite as fiercely as she previously thought, after all? I enjoyed reading "The Hating Game" even more than I anticipated. The story sucked me right in and captivated me from page one. I love the banter and think the tension between Lucy and Josh is on point. It's highly entertaining to follow the progression of their relationship and I find Lucy's freak-outs due to their ever-changing dynamic very relatable. What I love most about this book, though, is the fact that even though the protagonists butt heads quite frequently, their relationship is never toxic. Rather than sabotage one another they challenge and encourage each other to grow, both on a personal level and professionally. If you enjoy the hate-to-love-trope even half as much as I do or love office romances, this is definitely the book for you.

READ THIS BOOK!

I don't usually write reviews but if you're thinking of giving this book a read, I highly encourage you to do so. While I was reading it, I would keep thinking about it during the day and it would make me smile. This book is so fun, so completely devoid of predictable plot twists and how the story progresses makes you all giddy...
