Rolf Bichsel is one of the most experienced German-speaking tasters and specialists in Bordeaux and Champagne. He has spent nearly three decades living and working in the most important wine region in the world, allowing him to directly follow the wine trade in the Gironde and experience it up close, and therefore knows the region and its secrets like the back of his hand. A portrait on French TV described him as 'the man who makes the whole of Bordeaux tremble'. Rolf Bichsel has dual French and Swiss nationality. He came to journalism via music: after gaining a diploma in the piano, he settled in Bordeaux as a freelance musician and also began writing about wine. He was Vinum’s editor in chief from 1993 to 2008. Under his leadership Vinum became one of the most important wine magazines in the German-speaking world, but also a genuine European institution published in German, French, Italian and Spanish.Rolf Bichsel has run his own media company called vinmedi@ since 2010, through which he manages multimedia projects on wine and culinary delights, and also reports exclusively from Bordeaux for VINUM.
Since 2019 Rolf Bichsel reports on wine and culinary delights exclusively from Bordeaux for VINUM.
