Valerian (Dane DeHaan) and Laureline (Cara Delevingne) are special operatives for the government of the human territories charged with maintaining order throughout the universe. Luc Besson, geb. 1959 in Paris, wuchs hauptsächlich zwischen Griechenland und Jugoslawien auf, wo seine Eltern als Tauchlehrer arbeiteten. Mit 20 Jahren fing er als Praktikant in der Filmindustrie an. Heute arbeitet er als Regisseur, Drehbuchautor und Produzent.Besson führte Regie bei Filmen, die mittlerweile Kultstatus geniessen, wie z.B. "Im Rausch der Tiefe" oder "Léon - der Profi". Seine eigene Produktionsfirma "EuropaCorp", hat inzwischen in Frankreich eine ähnliche Stellung, wie Steven Spielbergs "Dream Works" in Hollywood.
