Valerian Pidmohylny is one of the most colorful figures of Ukrainian literature not only in the 1920s, but also in the entire twentieth century, whose work has relatively recently returned to the treasury of Ukrainian literature.
In the story "Good God" the author focuses on the life and moral position of a young man who is trying to assert himself as a man. This is a rather self-confident, selfish, maximalist view: "A man is only worth something when there is a woman who loves him and wants to connect his life with him on the basis of this love. I am nineteen years old and I have already found such a woman. It turns out that I have human value. " The guy is confident in his self-worth, limiting himself in understanding the true values ¿¿of life.
