This autobiography by Ibrahim al-Mazini recounts his arduous life. His father passed away when he was still a child, a childhood he didn't enjoy like other boys his age. His mother raised him alone, despite their meager income. In this book, he describes the hardships he faced due to poverty and helplessness, even though his family had been well-off before his father's death.
The book takes us through its twenty chapters, drawing inspiration from the author's life, starting with his childhood and the dreams shattered by reality. He was even deprived of playing ball like other children. But the difficulties didn't end with the ball and the playing field. He felt he hadn't achieved his first victory as a university student and couldn't continue his medical studies, despite his determination to pursue them, because he couldn't bear the sight of blood.
He tried law school, but couldn't continue his studies there due to the high tuition fees. He ended up attending a teachers' college instead. He also discusses his experience in literature, journalism, and much more.
