Meine letzte Rezension The Tainted Cup von Robert Jackson Bennett
An absolutely fantastic read! The Tainted Cup invites you into a magical empire where Leviathans attack the sea walls every wet season. If that wasn’t adventure enough, our protagonists must solve a curious murder: a tree has grown through a man. I loved everything in this Holmsian fantasy crime novel - especially the shenanigans of excentric detective Ana. A book that keeps you on the edge of your seat until the last page!

    Simon Sort of Says

What started as a "sure, why not, the cover is cute" kind of read quickly evolved into a new favourite that I couldn't put down. After Simon survived a school shooting and was the center of an aweful media circus, his family moves to the town of Grin and Bear It, which blissfully does not have access to the internet. But a new town means a new school, and new friends. And Simon can only hope to stay under the radar. Erin bow weaves a heartfelt, funny and emotional story in this book, which made me completely lose my surroundings and laugh out loud several times. Bow manages to make a dark topic into a story full of humor without making light of the tragedies that are school shootings. I thought the characters were super complex and diverse. I especially enjoyed Simon's stressed and sarcastic mum, and Agate's bluntness. Also: puppies! What else do you want?
