Our goal in writing this book is to provide school communities with a general framework from which they can design a professional learning network that will meet their particular needs, coinciding with some practical and sequential steps to take in order to ensure the success of the professional learning network. Our own school communityÆs establishment and use of a professional learning network in response to our need to coordinate implementation of a common core curriculum will serve as the model from which we will share stories, show examples, and give advice. Our hope is that each professional learning network resulting from this book becomes a viable and practical tool by which to meet the specific and diverse needs of each school community; making certain that the professional learning network does not become the dreaded hoop. While there are many reputable books in the area of professional learning communities, there is little available in the area of a personal learning network. This book uniquely hits the areas of technology, curriculum and instruction, leadership, and professional development.This book will encourage audiences to take the initiative to build a successful and motivation professional learning network. Through the detailed approach offered in the book, the reader can determine at what level to begin and can devise a timeline that will help them eventually reach their targeted goals and objectives. A reader will walk away with the know-how and the resources they need to get started. In addition, the book acts as a support as the readers goes through the experience of creating a personal learning network. Even the reluctant user of technology will feel comfortable embracing the ideas presented, and will in turn encourage other educators to take the leap.
