Waltraut Pathenheimer was the first woman to practice the profession of still photographer - specifically that of film photographer - at the DEFA Studio for Feature Films. Over almost forty years, she created an extensive portfolio with an exceptional visual language that influenced film still photography and continues to fascinate to this day. A selection of her artistic oeuvre, which reflects both film history and contemporary history, is assembled for the first time and presented in this book - a homage to the DEFA still photographer Waltraut Pathenheimer.
