full disclosure: I'm not a person who usually likes graphic novels. I decided to give this one a try and it didn't go well. My problem with graphic novels is that you barely have anything other than conversations, there's no explanation, no background information, nothing. That was ultimately what made 'on a sunbeam' so bad. I had no idea what was going on half the time! For example, there's only women and non-binary people in the book, which is a great concept, however it wasn't explained at all. What happened to all the men? How do the women procreate? It's like this with everything, nothing about the planet, the people, or the plot was explained enough, everything was very vague. Furthermore, it was physically hard to read. The font was small and squiggly and the pictures were too dark to really differentiate between characters and settings. The story had great potential, if it had been a book with more in detail explanations. Overall, this made me want to never read a graphic novel again.

ich bin so ernst, das ist das schönste buch, dass ich je gesehen hab. es ist zwar ein paar jahre her, dass ich es gelesen habe, aber alle paar wochen oder monate ziehe ich es aus meinem regal und blättere es einfach durch, weil es so schön illustriert ist. die story hat mir auch super gefallen, daran erinnere ich mich. aber die bilder. simpel gehalten aber so eindrucksvoll.
