The study highlights the profile of opportunistic infections (OIs), determine associations between OIs and some determinants among patients with AIDS (CD4<200cells/mm3) on antiretroviral therapy (ART) at a clinic in northern Nigeria. This was achieved through a retrospective secondary analysis of existing data obtained from the clinic's electronic database of patients who started ART treatment between 2006 and 2010 with AIDS (CD4<200cells/mm3). Women made up 59% and mean age was 38.6±0.46years. 47.7% of the study cohort of patients who had an OI at month 0 with Pulmonary tuberculosis (PTB) being the most occurring OI; and a positive associated being WHO stage and OIs at month 0 (OR =>1.0). At month 12 there was a statistically significant decreased in the occurrence of OIs from month 0; and previous ART exposure was significant associated with the occurrence of OIs. All other factors were found not to be associated with OIs. There was a significant improvement in Immune status for most for patients with higher CD4 counts at month0. 3 OIs (PTB, Oral candidiasis and Diarrhea/Wasting Syndrome) were found to occur in most patients.
