Whether as a resource to polarize the country for his benefit or as a genuine strategy for change, the President of Mexico has made the relationship between power and media one of the central aspects of his administration. This relationship has generated confrontation, but also dependency, and has set the pace of public discussion in Mexico since the President established the “Mañaneras” (daily morning conferences) as the main communication channel of his government.
This book analyzes the interdependence born from that relationship. It is part a chronicle of the first four years of AMLO's government, part an essay on the political uses of fake news and on the role of ethics in a world dominated by misinformation. It is one of the texts that best documents a phenomenon as complex as worrying: the political implications of post-truth.
