You may think of James Patterson what you want, but this was just one more gripping book of him that had me on the edge of my seat. It's a must-read for everyone who loves court-room thrillers, plot twists and personalbe characters who you immediately empathize with. Yes, it's cliché here and there, but all in all, it was the best thriller I read this year.

Personally I don't consider this thriller to be one of James Patterson's best. Even the first half is full of unexpected twists and various contrived coincidences, which is exciting. However, the story gradually becomes too contrived; the police investigations and entrenched views are neither realistic nor convincingly founded. The prosecutor is influenced, and his investigations aren't detailed enough—exactly what I would expect from a good legal thriller. The court and the defense rely too heavily on assumptions rather than verifiable facts. This leads to some confusion and the reader is wondering where this all can lead to. The thriller's ending is rather disappointing. Therefore, in my opinion, it's not necessarily a must-read.
