About the Author
Jessica Zhang is an American author of realistic fiction. She is a member of the North American Chinese Writers Association and the Overseas Chinese Women Writers Association.
Jessica's work "The Crimson Eyed Buddha", published in 2017 by Dixie West Publishing, is an astounding story of how four generations of a family went through the social and political turmoil under communist rule in China. It depicts the love and hope that carried them through their pursuit of freedom. In 2018, The Crimson Eyed Buddha won the Taiwan Overseas Literature Award: Outstanding Fiction. In the same year, the book won the Best Fiction Award by the Chinese American Librarians Association.
Jessica's "Northern Maple" was published by Xinhua Publishing in 2018. It pays tribute to immigrant life in America. The heart-warming stories of assimilation, hardship, love, family and service to the beloved new land are intriguingly interwoven into a modern day reading treasure.
"The Land of Sorrow", published by Dixie West Publishing in 2020, is Jessica's most recent work. This novel takes the readers back to mid-20th-century China through the eyes of a 17 year old girl. It is a rare glimpse of the life of Chinese people through war, famine, and political unrest.
