Zum Inhalt kann man eigentlich nicht mehr viel schreiben, als das was in der Beschreibung steht, ohne zu „spoilern“: Der Drehbuchautor Harada trifft durch Zufall ein Paar, das seinen früh verstorbenen Eltern zum Verwechseln ähnlich sieht. Und sie sehen nicht nur aus wie seine Eltern, auch sie behandeln ihn auch wie ihren Sohn, obwohl er inzwischen älter ist als sie. Aber das schöne Wiedersehen hat einen Preis...
Wer Geschichten mit einem Hauch von Grusel mag, der wird mit dem Buch gut bedient, ich konnte es noch lesen ohne schlaflose Nächte zu bekommen, obwohl ich kein Horror-Fan bin.
Der Stil der Geschichte erinnert mich ein bisschen an Haruki Murakami, was diese Mischung aus Realität und übersinnlichen Phänomenen angeht. Aber Yamada weiß wann eine Idee auserzählt ist, Murakami hätte aus der Idee wahrscheinlich eine vierteiligen Fortsetzungsroman mit 10000 Seiten gemacht.
Zum Hörbuch: Das Buch wird von Geoff Sugiyama schön gelesen und vor allem schön deutlich, wenn man einigermaßen Englisch kann, dann wird man der Handlung gut folgen können.
