Alone and adrift in the Pacific, Edward Prendick is rescued by a ship carrying an odd cargo of wild animals to an uncharted island. H. G. Wells hat hier eine Geschichte über Ethik und Inhumanität so packend ‚menschlich‘ wirken lassen dass ich das Buch mehrmals staunend hab sinken lassen. An die etwas altertümliche Sprache muss man sich zwar gewöhnen beziehungsweise herantasten, dennoch ist The Island of Dr. Moreau für Liebhaber des Kuriosen sehr zu empfehlen!!
