Author is very well-connected in the poetry world, and is currently Associate Director of the NYU Creative Writing Program. She has worked at the Poetry Society of America (where she founded Crossroads), and more recently as the co-editor of Teachers & Writers Magazine and T&W Books, where she was editor of Illuminations: Great Writers on Writing (T&W Books, 2003). Teachers & Writers will host a launch party for the book. Good potential for creative writing course adoption, as an example of exceptionally taut, polished lyric poetry. Author received her B.A. and M.A. from the University of Pennsylvania and her M.Phil. in Modernist Literature from the University of Oxford. Author is the recipient of residencies to Yaddo, the MacDowell Colony, Breadloaf, Sewanee Writers Conference, and the Valparaiso Foundation in Spain. Her poems have appeared in such journals as American Poetry Review, Boston Review, Colorado Review, Gettysburg Review, Jubilat, LIT, The May Anthologies (selected by Ted Hughes), New England Review, New Republic, Paris Review, and Provincetown Arts (selected by Susan Mitchell). Her reviews have been published in Poets & Writers, Boston Review, and Teachers & Writers Magazine. Author won the 1994 Oxford-Isis Prize, judged by Seamus Heaney.
