Hunger Games meets Mad Max and Elysium, YA Fantasy

Bewertung am 18.01.2026

Bewertungsnummer: 2984344

Bewertet: Buch (Taschenbuch)

Wow! I binged both books and now can't wait for more of Nova, Commander Leon and General Kieran! This enthralling post-apocalyptic YAFantasy follows Nova who flees the confinements of her hidden village and lands herself amidst a brewing war. Her scouting talent and passion for medical plants help her slowly gain the trust of her captors. Many chapters were brimming with suspense making my heart race especially when Nova was in grave danger or even got tortured. Nova's character captivated me from the start - wanting to find her own path that brings her fulfilment while fighting for equality and against supression or conformity. Nova is only 18 years old but throughout all the hardship she is extremely resilient - always bouncing back on her feet and is not afraid to speak up inspite her opponents and the threats. She is extremely fierce, smart, level-headed and most of all cares deeply. The author has created a riveting world - maybe somewhere between "The Hunger Games", "Mad Max" and "Elysium". Especially "Sprigs & Stone" (book 2 in the series) has amazed me with Nova's character growth and while she goes through many physical & mental trials, she is allowed to have moments of dealing with trauma responses, anxiety, and even breaking down - making her anything but whiny and instead so relatable and aspiring. I did love Leon's playfulness and hot-headedness in the first book. The book has several explicit scenes of violence but has no spice
