Climate change is the biggest threat faced by the world's children. Though being the least contributors to its occurrence, they bear the heaviest brunt thereof due to the unique vulnerability stemming from their developing immune system and specific survival needs. This is particularly distressing for Africa, being the youngest continent with 40% of its population under the age of 15. It accounts for 66% of the top 50 countries with the highest children climate index risk. In that vein, UNICEF reports that children in 98 % of African countries, that is 48 out of 49 countries, are at high or extremely high risk of impact of climate change. Most concerning is the nefarious incidence on the enjoyment of the African's child right to survival and development which persists despite the existence of a global legal and institutional framework on child protection. This research reveals a significant gap in the global response to climate change highlighting a lack of centrality towards African children despite the increasing acknowledgement that they bear the most severe impact of climate change. Hence, this study preconizes the centrality of African children in every response thereof.
