Memoirs of the Life Sir Samuel Romilly V2 is a book written by Samuel Romilly, detailing his life and experiences. This is the second volume of the memoirs, which covers his life from the year 1796 to 1818. Samuel Romilly was a prominent figure in English law and politics, and his memoirs provide a fascinating glimpse into the life of a man who lived through some of the most significant events of his time. The book begins with Romilly's appointment as Solicitor General in 1806, a position he held until 1807. During this time, he worked on several high-profile cases, including the prosecution of the notorious smuggler, William Deacon Brodie. Romilly's memoirs also cover his time as a Member of Parliament and his work on various legislative reforms, including the abolition of the death penalty for minor crimes. In addition to his legal and political career, Romilly's memoirs also provide insight into his personal life. He discusses his marriage to Anne Garbett, their children, and his close relationships with friends and colleagues, including William Wilberforce and Sir James Mackintosh.Overall, Memoirs of the Life Sir Samuel Romilly V2 is a fascinating and informative read for anyone interested in English law and politics during the late 18th and early 19th centuries.
