In this volume, Newton Maloney and Bernard Spilka, two leading practitioners in the field, present a compilation of Pruyser's seminal articles, providing an overview of the major themes in Pruyser's thought and demonstrating its range and depth. The essays here show how he viewed contemporary religion and religious beliefs; some of the functions of religion relative to praxis and theology; what method in the study of religion meant to him; his central interest in the origins of religion; and his idea on what the future of the psychology of religion should be.
