The ""Bibliography Of The Chinese Imperial Collections Of Literature"" is a book written by William Frederick Mayers and originally published in 1878. The book is a comprehensive reference guide to the literary collections that were held by the Chinese imperial family during the Qing dynasty. Mayers was a British diplomat and sinologist who spent many years living in China and studying its culture and history. The book is divided into two parts. The first part provides an overview of the imperial collections, including their history, organization, and contents. Mayers describes the various genres of literature that were included in the collections, such as poetry, drama, history, and philosophy. He also discusses the importance of these collections in Chinese culture and their role in shaping literary traditions. The second part of the book is a detailed bibliography of the imperial collections. Mayers provides a comprehensive list of the titles and authors of each work in the collections, along with information on their publication history and any known commentaries or annotations. The bibliography is organized by genre and includes both Chinese and Manchu-language works.Overall, ""Bibliography Of The Chinese Imperial Collections Of Literature"" is a valuable resource for scholars and students of Chinese literature and history. It provides a fascinating glimpse into the literary culture of the Qing dynasty and the role that the imperial collections played in preserving and promoting Chinese literary traditions. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
