The author, who was a member of the club, provides a firsthand account of the club's history, traditions, and notable events. The book begins with a brief biography of Chute, the founder of the Vine Hunt, and goes on to describe the early days of the club, including its formation and the first few years of its existence. The author provides detailed descriptions of the club's members, their personalities, and their hunting skills. The book also includes accounts of some of the most memorable hunts in the club's history, including the chase of a particularly elusive fox.Throughout the book, the author provides insight into the culture of fox hunting in the 18th and 19th centuries, including the social hierarchy of the sport and the etiquette expected of its participants.
