""Ireland and the Anglo-Norman Church: A History of Ireland and Irish Christianity from the Anglo-Norman Conquest to the Dawn of the Reformation"" is a book written by George Thomas Stokes and published in 1897. The book provides a comprehensive account of the history of Ireland and Irish Christianity during the period of the Anglo-Norman conquest until the dawn of the Reformation. The author delves into the complex relationship between the Irish people and the Anglo-Norman Church, exploring the ways in which the Church's influence shaped the religious and political landscape of Ireland. He examines the role of the Church in the spread of Christianity throughout Ireland, as well as its impact on the social and cultural life of the Irish people.Stokes also discusses the various conflicts and tensions that arose between the Irish and the Anglo-Norman Church, particularly in relation to issues such as land ownership and the authority of the Church. He provides detailed accounts of key events and figures in Irish history during this period, including the Norman invasion of Ireland, the establishment of the English Pale, and the rise of the Gaelic lords.Overall, ""Ireland and the Anglo-Norman Church"" is a rich and informative account of a crucial period in Irish history, offering insights into the complex interplay between religion, politics, and culture in medieval Ireland. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
