""The Church and the Age: Essays on the Principles and Present Position of the Anglican Church"" is a collection of essays written by Archibald Weir in 1870. The book explores the principles and current state of the Anglican Church in relation to the changing times of the 19th century. Weir discusses various topics such as the role of the Church in society, the importance of tradition and the authority of scripture, the relationship between Church and State, and the challenges posed by modernism and liberalism. He also examines the controversies and divisions within the Church, including the Oxford Movement and the rise of Anglo-Catholicism. Weir's essays provide insight into the Anglican Church's struggles to adapt to the modern world while maintaining its traditional values and beliefs.
