Pro Ecclesia Dei V1: Church and State Review (1862) is a book written by George Anthony Denison. It is a comprehensive review of the relationship between the Church and the State in England during the 19th century. The book covers a wide range of topics, including the role of the Church in society, the relationship between Church and State, the rights and responsibilities of individuals within the Church, and the importance of religious education. Denison's writing is informed by his deep knowledge of Church history and his commitment to the Anglican Church. He argues that the Church should have a prominent role in shaping the moral and social fabric of society, and that the State should respect the autonomy of the Church in matters of faith and doctrine. The book is divided into several chapters, each of which explores a different aspect of the relationship between Church and State. Denison begins by examining the historical relationship between the two institutions, and then moves on to consider the contemporary challenges facing the Church in the 19th century. He also offers practical advice for individuals seeking to live a faithful Christian life within the context of a rapidly changing society. Overall, Pro Ecclesia Dei V1: Church and State Review (1862) is a thoughtful and well-researched examination of the relationship between Church and State in England during the 19th century. It offers valuable insights into the challenges facing the Church at that time, and provides a compelling argument for the importance of the Church in shaping the moral and social fabric of society. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
