Speech of Viscount Palmerston: On the Treaty of Washington (1843) is a historical book written by Henry John Temple, also known as Viscount Palmerston. The book is a transcription of a speech given by Palmerston in the House of Commons in 1843, in which he discusses the Treaty of Washington. The Treaty of Washington was a treaty signed between the United States and Great Britain in 1842. The treaty resolved several long-standing disputes between the two countries, including the border between Maine and Canada, the extradition of criminals, and the suppression of the African slave trade.Palmerston's speech provides a detailed analysis of the treaty, its provisions, and its potential impact on both countries. He also discusses the history of Anglo-American relations and the importance of maintaining a strong relationship between the two nations. The book is an important historical document that provides insight into the political and diplomatic climate of the mid-19th century. It is a valuable resource for historians, political scientists, and anyone interested in the history of Anglo-American relations. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
