Originally published in 1962, this book is the story of Charlie Parker as told by his colleagues, family members, and closest friends. Through their testimonies (always warm, sometimes funny, and oftentimes dramatic) the reader is able to discern the figure of a man as contradictory as he is fascinating, and the essence of a mythical time period in the history of jazz music.
