The raw and vulgar language is what makes this book honest. Honest in telling about a time where hiv was at it's peak and addiction for some the only way out. It doesn't palliate how things really were - on the contrary: It shows what addiction is capable to do to one and whilst reading, you won't only question what is told, but rather how.
Hardly anything compares to the storytelling of this book (or film) and it has by far become one of my favourites.
Big recommendation for readers of William S. Burroughs :)

choose life... and this book
the extra time spent translating the heavily accented scots english was time well spent
what a cruel, wild, honest and heartbreaking book about addiction in the time of hiv appearing on the scene

Buch (Taschenbuch)
Mitten ins Gesicht
