Very promising, but with a lot of room for improvement

The concept of telling a love story through a box that is given back after the break up sounded so thrilling to me, but the execution was lacking. First and foremost, the main characters should have never come together. There was never any kind of chemistry. In the beginning, everything was fine as I thought that the deep connection between them was just about to be established. I had my hopes too high. The most important rule in Young Adult fiction: Never forget they are teens! To give it to the author, the adolescent ignorance and drama was down to a T. She was "not like other girls" and "artsy" and he was the sports guy. Whatever. They never talked about anything of importance, except when they were talking about their differences. I really liked the art work though. And I was very happy that they broke up.
