The Cuckoo's Calling

Spannung pur, sprachlich sind für Leser "near-native English" immer noch ein paar neue Wörter dabei. Mein erstes "nicht Harry Potter" Buch von J.K. Rowling ist wirklich sehr gut.

Interesting personalities of the main characters, each with different paths in life, tragic events in their pasts to overcome, and a common passion that brings them together brilliantly.

Loved everything about it.The plot was great and you really had no idea till the end who the villain was. The characters were lovely portrayed and Strike and Robin very likeable. After beginning to read I was unable to put it down.

Although the novel had its lengths in-between, I was always looking forward to continuing reading and the twisted plot was easy to follow but made it impossible for me to be sure who the murderer was until the crime was solved by Strike and his assistant Robin in the end. Additionally I got quite emotional at some point, but I don't want to spoil anything...... Will definitely buy the second Strike novel soon!

Das Buch ist echt super - Leser, die an JK Rowlings Texten vor allem ihren Humor und die kuriosen Figuren mit ihren verschrobenen Eigenheiten und kleinen Geschichten mögen, werden voll auf ihre Kosten kommen. Außerdem macht es richtig Spaß, mal einen "Hard-Boiled" von Rowling zu lesen, in denen die Figuren wirklich fluchen dürfen ("f***" statt "blimey"). Und durchschaubar ist die Geschichte auf keinen Fall - ich bin noch nicht ganz durch, bin mir aber immer noch nicht sicher, wer es gewesen sein könnte .. oder ob es überhaupt Mord war. Bisher also absoult empfehlenswert!
