Embelin is a large scandent shrub, distributed throughout India and commonly known as false black pepper or Vidanga. It is also a critically endangered species of conservation importance in India. Embelin (2,5-dihydroxy-3-undecyl-1,4-benzoquinone), a major phenolic compound found in the fruits of Embelia ribes Burm belonging to family Myrsinaceae is the most correlated species of Vidanga. Embelin is indicated in traditional medicine for the treatment of various diseases. This book generally concerns to provide quantitative estimation of isolated embelin was determined by using High performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) and UV method which was finally compared by using standard embelin.
