Behind the closed doors of the Paris Peace Conference, British delegates relied on precise country studies to redraw the map of Europe. History hung in the balance. Peace Handbooks: Austria-Hungary, edited by G. W. Prothero for the Historical Section of the Foreign Office, stands as a pivotal diplomatic reference handbook on the Habsburg monarchy at the very end of the First World War era. Drawing on British Foreign Office reports and the best scholarship of early 20th century Europe, it offers a rigorous Austro-Hungarian empire study and a vital strand of Paris peace conference background, illuminating the forces that shaped the European postwar settlement analysis and the ultimate Habsburg empire collapse history. Indispensable as a researchers and historians reference and for students of diplomatic history, it also rewards any reader curious about the First World War and the fate of a vanished empire. Out of print for decades and now republished by Alpha Editions. Restored for today's and future generations. More than a reprint - a collector's item and a cultural treasure. As part of the renowned Peace Handbooks collection, this volume on Austria Hungary World War diplomacy anchors any serious European postwar settlement analysis while remaining accessible to motivated general readers and non-specialists in World War 1 history. Republished in a careful modern edition, it serves both as a working tool for academic libraries and a handsome addition to the shelves of classic literature and history collectors, keeping alive a key voice from early 20th century Europe.
