My first piece of Ocean Vuong and I have the second poetry collection waiting for me already. I like how visual and descriptive the poems are and they still don’t lose depth and meaning. I just think, at times, some pages felt like they just needed to be filled. My favourite part were his random journal entries.

Ocean Vuong writes about love, family, war and violence with precise and hard hitting accuracy.
The war that ravaged the homeland of his mother, his own mixed blood and everything he put himself through paint the story of a life filled with hardship. His poetry feels authentic and raw and explains the inexplicable with brutal, introspective clarity.

Poesie die mehr als unter die Haut geht
Manchmal fehlen einem die Worte - vor allem wenn man so etwas persönliches liest.
Der Schreibstil von Ocean Vuong ist melancholisch und zieht einen in einen Strudel aus dunklem Wasser während er einen in seinem Leben teilhaben lässt - seine Gedanken und Beziehungen teilt und damit Stück für Stück von sich Preis gibt.
Ich konnte nicht anders als seinem Schreibstil zu verfallen.
