At the threshold of life, words matter. In Piety Promoted, Volume III, William Evans gathers the last, plain-spoken testimonies of Friends - a quaker devotional anthology shaped by courage, tenderness, and quiet certainty. Hold the inner light close. This deathbed testimonies collection is a religious sayings compilation drawn from many of the people called Quakers, offered as brief witnesses to quaker piety and faith and to the lifelong work of preparation for death. Read as daily devotional reading, these dying sayings emphasise inward transformation, simplicity, and inward guidance - inner light spirituality set against the pressures of early modern England religion. For the curious newcomer, the pieces are immediate and human; for the seasoned reader, they echo the wider world of seventeenth century Quakers and the movement associated with George Fox writings and the theological defence later framed in Robert Barclay Apology. Historically, this volume stands as a textured record of practice as well as belief: how early Friends spoke, consoled, admonished, and hoped when time was short. It is equally useful for quaker history research and for readers who collect classic religious literature for its distinctive voice and moral intensity. Republished by Alpha Editions in a careful modern edition, this volume preserves the spirit of the original while making it effortless to enjoy today - a heritage title prepared for readers and collectors alike. Keep it by the bedside, the study desk, or the meeting house shelf - a sober companion for reflection, prayerful reading, and remembrance today again.
