Step into Wisconsin's memory, shelf by shelf. A working map of knowledge. Daniel S. Durrie's Catalogue Of The Library Of The State Historical Society Of Wisconsin (First Supplement) is a meticulous historical society library catalog that captures what a young state chose to preserve, read, and study. Built as a library holdings list and library catalog supplement, it guides you through printed books, pamphlets, and other records gathered for the state historical society wisconsin at a formative moment in 19th century Wisconsin. Compiled by the Society's librarian-historian, it is a civic portrait in bibliography, revealing collecting priorities and the voices a post-Civil War public sought to read closely. For historians, genealogists, and curious browsers alike, this bibliographic reference book functions as an american history source list and an american genealogical reference collection in miniature: a set of pointers to the debates, migrations, and institutions that shaped the Midwest and the nation. For academic history research reference work, it offers dependable pathways into wisconsin local history sources; for librarians, it remains a practical librarian collection development guide and a window into library science cataloging history, showing how knowledge was organised before digital discovery. Out of print for decades and now republished by Alpha Editions. Restored for today's and future generations. More than a reprint -- a collector's item and a cultural treasure. Add it to a classics shelf, consult it as a research tool, or simply enjoy the quiet thrill of seeing a community's intellectual world laid out in ordered detail.
