The major military logistical campaign that the war presented, and how the RASC responded to the combat support role, is covered magnificently using war diaries, collated narratives and records collected during the war for inclusion in a history of the corps. A complete Roll of Honour - list of honours and awards to all ranks - 19 good maps and illustrations, some in colour, complete this monumental history of the RASC in all theatres throughout the war. The Royal Army Service Corps (RASC) was the corps of the British Army responsible for land, coastal and lake transport, air despatch, barracks administration, the Army Fire Service, staffing headquarters' units, supply of food, water, fuel and domestic materials such as clothing, furniture and stationery and the supply of technical and military equipment. The exceptions were weaponry and ammunition, which were supplied by the Royal Army Ordnance Corps.
