Eine mittelmäßige Young Adult-Romanze über Ellie, die in ihrem Theaterkurs endlich mehr aus sich rauskommen will. Aber dann verliebt sie sich unverhofft in ihren neuen Mitschüler Ash, der allerdings schon mit ihrer besten Freundin zusammen zu sein scheint. Der Schreibstil erzählt aus Ellies Sicht und das sehr leicht und flüssig, zudem sind die Kapitel meist angenehm kurz. Trotzdem sticht die Story nicht aus der Masse heraus; es gibt ein bisschen Liebesdrama und die schüchterne Protagonistin, die ja soo anders als alle anderen ist, in diesem Fall, da sie alte Musik hört und alte Filme schaut, lernt eben, dass sie was besonderes ist und wird selbstbewusster. An sich ist die Message ja ganz süß, dennoch wurde ähnliches eben schon in hundert anderen Coming of Age-Stories durchgekaut und das etwas besser, denn hier fehlt teilweise der rote Faden und ein ausdrucksstarkes Fazit. Auch die Charaktere sind eher durchschnittlich. Ash lernt man kaum tiefer kennen und Ellie ist zwar teilweise ganz nett, manchmal aber auch etwas impulsiv und leicht unsympathisch. Insgesamt also ein nettes Buch, das man einfach mal lesen kann, aber es muss auch nicht unbedingt sein.
