Vile Lady Villains

This book is straight-up wonderful. I‘ve never read anything quite like this. The slowly unfolding relationship between Claret and Anassa, who are alike in their wickedness and fierceness (for what they believe is justice AND each other), felt sharp and intense. Together, they travel through realms of stories that feel like fever dreams, like they shouldn‘t make sense. But they all do. Just trust. :D It features many nods to other literature, but without requiring intertextuality, since everything is explained (and googling is always possible too, if you feel the need to). I myself read it without even having heard of Lady Macbeth or Klytemnestra. The ending felt very satisfying too, leaving me kicking my feet out of joy with no questions unanswered. ^^
