Little Dorrit by Charles Dickens follows Amy "Little" Dorrit, the youngest daughter of a poor family imprisoned in London's Marshalsea debtors' prison. Amy is born and raised there, caring selflessly for her vain father, William Dorrit. She works as a seamstress and befriends Arthur Clennam, a kind but troubled man who suspects his family wronged the Dorrits in the past. When the Dorrit family unexpectedly inherits a fortune, they are freed and travel through Europe, but wealth brings pride, discontent, and tragedy. Eventually, their riches vanish due to a corrupt banker's collapse. Through all changes, Amy remains humble and steadfast. In the end, love grows between Amy and Arthur, who himself suffers imprisonment for debt before they finally find happiness together. It's both a love story and a critique of bureaucracy, class prejudice, and the dehumanizing effects of poverty
