London Calling: The Clash in the Capital maps the band's London in gigs, studios, squats and streets - the city where punk took shape and The Clash found their voice. Follow Jones, Strummer, Simonon and Headon from early sightings at Hyde Park and the Roundhouse to formative nights at the 100 Club, the ICA and The Roxy. Step into rehearsal rooms under railway arches, label offices in Soho Square, and sessions at Wessex, Trident and CBS; stand where London Calling was written, recorded and first unveiled.
The guide stitches together legendary moments and lesser-known corners: bus stops that sparked lyrics, cafés that doubled as offices, markets and cinemas, courtrooms and club back rooms. Each entry sets the scene with dates, anecdotes and context, so you can trace the routes between Westway, Ladbroke Grove and Camden Town, across the river to Brixton and out to the East End carnivals and park shows.
Part history, part city walk, this is London as The Clash lived it -- urgent, unruly and permanently turned up.
