Bunny

I thought the hype was undeserved at first but the more I read the more I understood; this piece is a work of art, the wrtiting, the story, how every detail speaks to you. It is a must read and addictive. Could not stop myself from reading through the night. Truly amazing!

I absolutely loved the writing style of Mona Awad, there are many (actually good) metaphors, rhetoricals and other stylistics, without feeling forced or exaggerated. I also loved the part that Smackie was a writer herself, all her struggles felt authentic, she as a character felt authentic. I understood (almost) every of her decisions and thoughts. She was kind of an unreliable narrator without knowing it the whole time, I loved that too. The bunnies were surprisingly individual too. Before I read it, I thought they’d be all the same, wearing pink ballet dresses and eating sweeties and gossiping but no, they all have independent personalities. And those personalities are pretty great written too, (I especially loved cupcake) the bunnies were so much more than just a sect. But the best character without question was Ava. Omfggg I AM IN LOVE there is literally no better character in the whole world, she is genius! At first I thought she was kinda mean and using Smackie, but as their relationship was explained, I understood her motives. I know how it sounds, but she literally knew better than Smackie what’s best for her. And SERIOUSLY, Ava is a goddamn icon. She is sooooooo cool and great and hot and everything. Also I never thought smoking or tango could be that hot. My only complaint are those 50 pages somewhere in the middle, when she was all alone. That was a bit dragging and hard to get through. And also you always kinda have the feeling as if this whole book and every page has a deeper meaning ur just to dumb to really get…

I have to agree to the other reviews: reading this felt like a feaver dream. I couldn't put this book down because it was just so funny, weird, insane and intense. You never really knew what was real and what wasn't and that made the ending so much more surprising. The way the Bunnies were portrayed and Samantha's time with them was magnificent. I loved every single thing about it and am looking forward to reading more books by Mona Awad.

A brilliantly disturbing and unsettling ride that kept me hooked from start to finish! The novel’s eerie and bizarre atmosphere blends dark humor with psychological horror in a way that is both unsettling and mesmerizing. Awad’s exploration of friendship, identity, and the dangers of conformity is deeply thought-provoking, while her vivid prose pulls you into a world that feels both surreal and uncomfortably real. The strange and twisted events that unfold are as perplexing as they are captivating, making this a book that will stay with you long after you turn the last page. If you enjoy stories that push boundaries and leave you questioning what’s real, Bunny is an absolute must-read.
