A Slice Of Mystery

This was a challenging read for me - while I really enjoyed the crime story with all the guessing and false leads, I did not really like the main character Abigail Palmer. While I recognize her as a special person who struggles with social skills, I did not like her criticizing other people for their unfriendliness while behaving so herself all the time - it just did not sit right with me. Also, there was so much talk about her job, workflows and boring meetings and of course about her eating habits and her preference for cheese - at the beginning it was interesting, but soon I thought it took to much space and pushed the mystery to the background. While her detective skills where so praised in the beginning and compared to Holmes whom she is a big fan of, I would have preferred to see those skills in action more often. The only memorable moment was when she told a detective exactly about his current situation by just taking a look at him. In the end, this was an entertaining cozy mystery, but it also felt a little unbalanced to me, but which I'm sure will improve with the sequel.
