Claire M. Renzetti holds a Ph.D. in sociology from the University of Delaware and is the Judi Conway Patton Endowed Chair in the Center for Research on Violence Against Women. She serves as a professor and chair of the Sociology Department at the University of Kentucky. She is editor of the international and interdisciplinary journal Violence Against Women, co-editor of the Interpersonal Violence book series (Oxford University Press), editor of the Gender & Justice book series (University of California Press), and editor of the Cognella Series on Family and Gender-Based Violence. Her research focuses on the violent victimization experiences of socially and economically marginalized women and includes an evaluation of a therapeutic horticulture program at a shelter for battered women, studies of the effects of religiosity on intimate partner violence perpetration, and factors influencing identification and prosecution of human trafficking cases. Dr. Renzetti has held elected and appointed positions on the governing bodies of the Society for the Study of Social Problems, American Society of Criminology, Eastern Sociological Society, and Alpha Kappa Delta, the sociological honors society.

Diane R. Follingstad holds a Ph.D. in clinical psychology from the University of Colorado. In 2008, she became the inaugural Women's Circle Endowed Chair in the Center for Research on Violence Against Women and a professor of clinical and forensic psychology in the Department of Psychiatry, College of Medicine at the University of Kentucky (with a joint appointment in the Department of Psychology). Dr. Follingstad's research in the area of intimate partner violence has covered issues related to battered women, physical dating violence, and factors impacting jury verdicts in cases where battered women killed a partner. Most recently, her research efforts have led to more sophisticated measurement of psychological aggression and abuse, and she has published a critique regarding the problems of measurement in this field. She is a board-certified forensic psychologist and has served as president of the American Board of Forensic Psychology.
