A hush falls over the ancient world as philosophers gather in the flickering light of oil lamps, seeking to unravel the mysteries that shape existence itself. Within these pages, the reader is invited into a profound dialogue on the nature of the universe, where the boundaries of time and eternity are delicately weighed and measured by some of antiquity's most influential minds. The text brings together rare treatises that probe the very fabric of reality, exploring questions that have haunted thinkers for millennia: Is the cosmos eternal, or does it have a beginning and an end? What is the true nature of time, and how does it govern the order of all things? This collection draws upon the wisdom of ancient Greek philosophy, offering a window into the heart of Platonic cosmology and the enduring debates that animated the schools of Neoplatonism. Through the meticulous reasoning of Taurus and the incisive analysis of the thema mundi, readers encounter the classical metaphysics that underpinned the intellectual life of the ancient world. The inclusion of select theorems on the perpetuity of time by Proclus deepens the exploration, illuminating how Greek philosophical writings grappled with the infinite and the eternal. The experience of reading these treatises is both contemplative and invigorating, as each argument unfolds with precision and clarity. The text serves not only as a testament to the power of reason, but also as an invitation to reflect on humanity's place within the cosmos. For collectors and those who cherish the legacy of ancient philosophical treatises, this volume is indispensable-a bridge to a civilisation whose questions remain as vital as ever. This book was out of print for decades and is now republished by Alpha Editions. It has been restored for today's and future generations. This edition is not just a reprint - it's a collector's item and a cultural treasure.
