Portrait

Dr. M.P. Jonathan actively conducts research in the field of "Environmental Geochemistry," focusing on metal cycling in water, sediment, and air within continental and coastal environments. His research group has initiated a global program, "Blue Flag Beaches: Vision 2030," which involves generating baseline geochemical data for tourist beaches. This study spans 10 different countries, with a goal of creating baseline data sites for approximately 30 countries by 2030. His group has pioneered research in microplastic studies within coastal environments, particularly examining beaches, coral regions, selected commercial fish species, crocodiles, sea lions, and similar environments.
